“Let the Stewards be the persons of solid piety, who know Methodist Doctrine and Discipline, who have given evidence of their ability, desire and practice of witnessing to the Gospel of the kingdom of God in and beyond their environs.  Such persons shall be capable of transacting the temporal business of the church.”  

It is the duty of the Board of Trustees to provide a place of worship and take charge of and protect the Church Property with all its appurtenances in trust for the membership, and to make such improvements as may be necessary from time to time for the interest of the Society for which they are trustees; and to see that order and decorum are always observed in the Church.  

To oversee the finances and stewardship of Pennsylvania Avenue AME Zion Church in accordance with the mission of God’s Church and the vision of this local ministry.  The finance committee creates a fiduciary agency in the local church which keeps the membership informed as to its economic condition, assesses the level of giving, monitors the budget, and recommends fundraising options when necessary.

Each local church shall organize a Lay Council to the end that the following objectives may be achieved:  1) Deepen the spiritual life of the laity; 2) Disseminate information; 3) Cultivate denominational loyalty; 4) Expand the denomination through education and evangelism; 5) Promote any other interest of the kingdom of God.  Write a description for this list item and include information that will interest site visitors. This ministry extends the Kingdom of God by providing transportation to those members in need of services and to provide access to all church services and activities.
