Ministry Of Discipleship

Overview

Summary

Disciple-making is an intentional process of evangelizing non-believers, establishing believers in the faith, and equipping leaders. “Make disciples” implies intentionality and process. Disciple-making doesn't just happen because a church exists and people show up. It is a deliberate process. Considering the modifying participles of “going . . . baptizing . . . teaching” help us recognize this process. It must include evangelizing (going to new people and new places), establishing (baptizing new believers and teaching obedience), and equipping (teaching believers to also make disciples). This church training opportunity is our commitment to develop every member into the mature and effective believer that God intended.

This training includes four different courses all intended to help God’s people grow in their faith. The first course is the basic introduction to the church family. It is the first step to move members into ministers. It is designed to clearly explain who and what the church is and does. The second course focuses on the habits every Christian needs to grow to spiritual maturity. This is step two in the process of turning a crowd into an army for God and is designed to teach the importance of commitment and community. The third course aims to help people discover their unique s.h.a.p.e. for ministry and commit to developing and using their God given gifts and abilities for serving God and others in the church family. Finally, the fourth course is dedicated to helping members discover and realize their place in the world and in God’s plan for the world. It is designed for equipping and empowering every member to share their faith and to discover God’s mission for their life.
